A Biblical View on Worldly Phrases

Glory to God for being His daughter and able to serve Him!   As we witness walk through stores, I take pics of mugs, pictures, cards etc that have phrases so I can post here and we can discern them. Let's look at them and see how we can bring it around to truth in the word of God. Test yourself HERE to the biblical gospel and make sure you truly are a child of God and not a false convert.   Let's look at some of these pictures and do some general discernment.

Okay, enjoying moments is not a sinful thing or mindset but what is the focus on your life and why are the moments being enjoyed?  Sadly the world is enjoying everything for themselves which is not true joy but a fleshly joy that will fade away in death whereas a true saint will have joy in the Lord. 

Psalm 35:9 
And my soul shall be joyful in the LORD: it shall rejoice in his salvation.

That could have some truth to it but if true saints of God think deeper...they see the reason why that contentment is truly there, it's because we long for nothing more than the Lord.  

1 Timothy 6:6 
But godliness with contentment is great gain.

This isn't so much the phrase (feeding the multitude) but the concept of the young boy holding up the fish and bread making it look like he was the one who fed the people.  He isn't the one who fed the multitude, like that bell makes it look like, Christ was the one.  (BTW...notice that boy wearing a long tunic like garments, why don't so called Christians clothe themselves and their children like that?) 

John 6:9-12 
There is a lad here, which hath five barley loaves, and two small fishes: but what are they among so many? And Jesus said, Make the men sit down. Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand. And Jesus took the loaves; and when he had given thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to them that were set down; and likewise of the fishes as much as they would. When they were filled, he said unto his disciples, Gather up the fragments that remain, that nothing be lost.

That's a partial phrase from a heretical 'footprints in the sand' poem where the person had no clue why there were only one set of footprints and they say Jesus carried them at that time but it's deceiving because we all need to keep walking in the true faith, following after Christ.  God isn't going to just pick us up and carry us, we have to walk and He walks with us with the Holy Spirit. 

James 4:8 
Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.

2 Corinthians 5:7 KJVS

I'm sure you know what verses I'm going to use for that one...

Matthew 19:26 
But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.

I love that and let's remember this....

John 9:31 
Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth.

There are some nice concepts to that but let's take a couple of them a bit deeper spiritually....When someone is speaking, they say we listen but what if they're not speaking truth?  

Titus 3:10 
A man that is an heretick after the first and second admonition reject;

Romans 16:17 
Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them.

What about being loved?  It's good to tell someone they are loved but when it comes to biblical love of God, people need to know what Godly love is and that we are only loved by God through Christ....via the gospel.

1 John 4:9-10 
In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. [10] Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

John 6:47 
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.

Luke 13:3 
I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.

John 3:3 
Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

Hebrews 5:9 
And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;

Matthew 24:13 
But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
