Be Not Froward

Job 5:13 
He taketh the wise in their own craftiness: and the counsel of the froward is carried headlong.

The Lord with His mercies, which are new every day, allowed us to live to serve Him in this day, keeping ourselves unspotted from the world, preaching the gospel (test yourself HERE to it) and doing the works He has for us.  

I thought I'd share some scriptures on forward to remind us not to be that way. (I'll let you go look up the Hebrew / Greek meaning of forward:)  

2 Samuel 22:27 
With the pure thou wilt shew thyself pure; and with the froward thou wilt shew thyself unsavoury.

Job 5:13

A froward heart shall depart from me: I will not know a wicked person.

Proverbs 2:11-15 
Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee: To deliver thee from the way of the evil man, from the man that speaketh froward things; Who leave the paths of uprightness, to walk in the ways of darkness;  Who rejoice to do evil, and delight in the frowardness of the wicked; Whose ways are crooked, and they froward in their paths:

​Proverbs 4:24 
Put away from thee a froward mouth, and perverse lips put far from thee.

Proverbs 6:12 
A naughty person, a wicked man, walketh with a froward mouth.

Proverbs 10:31 
The mouth of the just bringeth forth wisdom: but the froward tongue shall be cut out.

Proverbs 21:8 
The way of man is froward and strange: but as for the pure, his work is right.

1 Peter 2:18 
Servants, be subject to your masters with all fear; not only to the good and gentle, but also to the froward.

We can read those (go do a word search on 'forward' and see more) and think 'Oh that's not me, I won't be like that' but we have to be careful...

1 Corinthians 10:12 
Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.

What we should say is that we hate every false way and to ask the Lord to help us see any wicked ways in us.

Psalm 139:23-24 
Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

Our lives, if we're true followers of Christ, is to be constantly examining ourselves and making sure we're not being misled by the culture, teachings, people and our flesh.  Satan is crafty and looks for anything he can use against us.  It's a good exercise to pick a word or phrase, do a word search and test yourself to see if you are doing it when we should, or not doing it like we shouldn't.

Deuteronomy 8:6 
Therefore thou shalt keep the commandments of the Lord thy God, to walk in his ways, and to fear him.

I pray the Lord watch over you and keep you on the narrow path if you truly are His.
