Greetings sister saints! I hope this finds you well, pressing on in your day for the Lord, being thankful and content, which goes a long way in keeping a right focus. How can we not be thankful for what He has done? Revelation 2:26-27 And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations: And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father. We're not here to just get by until we die and be with the Lord...we're preparing to reign with him....go listen to this verse by verse HERE from brother Tupos and see for yourself. Revelation 5:10 And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth. 2 Timothy 2:12 If we suffer, we shall also reign with him : if we deny him, he also will deny us: Go look up more verses and let's all ponder the depths of that. We're to love God, love our neighbor, love the brethren (who is our neighbor), preach the gospel, be obedient, keep ourselves unspotted from the world and much more but what is our mindset? Does it all end when we die and if we have overcome we will be with Him and that's it? Or are we preparing for more, after all this? That puts a different dynamic on our lives and focus doesn't it sisters? It adds an intense urgency to keep pressing on and doing the utmost we can for Him, training up as soldiers in this battle to reign with our King. If we're not willing to go over and above now, how will we make it to that point for then? 2 Timothy 2:3-7 Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier. And if a man also strive for masteries, yet is he not crowned, except he strive lawfully. The husbandman that laboureth must be first partaker of the fruits. Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things. We saw this pig in a town that we preached in and I wanted to show you sisters (especially those with children) to warn you of such things. It may seem like nothing to walk by and rub his nose out of 'amusement', not thinking and discerning but is that something godly saints should be doing? Luck is like mysticism (we could add in here superstition also) and who is that luck coming from? It would be a different power than God, right? A god of the pagans. We don't live by luck, we live by every word of the mouth of God (Matthew 4:4) knowing that He is watching over and allowing or having something take place in our lives, this has nothing to do with luck. 1 Thessalonians 5:21 Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. We're to prove and test all things in our lives and maybe some of you, possibly sisters new to the faith and learning to discern, might be following some of these that you don't realize. I thought I'd list some pagan lucky / superstitious sayings and actions that have been handed down through the years that some people do without realizing what exactly they're all about. I won't take the time to go into all the backgrounds and specific origins of such things because I think it's unfruitful and not necessary, all we need to know is they are not of God and to put them away. * Knocking on wood after you say something so bad luck doesn't come * Not walking under a ladder to avoid bad luck * Seeing a black cat cross your path is bad luck * Tossing salt over your shoulder after you spilled it is good luck * Carrying a rabbits foot for good luck * Friday the 13th is a bad day * Finding a penny means you will have good luck * Hanging a horseshoe upright above a door is good luck * Crossing fingers for good luck * Planting the garden by full moonlight better growing * Hearing an owl hoot means someone will die * Dream catchers keep bad dreams away * Finding a 4 leaf clover is good luck * Saying 'God bless you' after someone sneezes is pagan * Wedding tradition "something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue" not doing that is bad luck * Itchy palm means money coming your way * Blowing all the seeds off a dandelion will grant a wish * Opening an umbrella indoors is bad * Rosary beads as good luck and extra power or protection against satan I'm sure you can think of more, especially those who are in different countries with different cultures. Be aware, watching and discerning all things, especially those of you raising children as they can easily get swept away and confused about such things. I remember knowing about many of those that I listed and wondered where and who was granting wishes or going to give me good luck. This takes the focus away from God and gives Satan glory for his lies. Just some things to think about and test in our lives. 2 Peter 3:17-18 Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness. But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen. I hope you all have a joyous day, testing all things and standing fast. Love in Christ who is, was and always will be! Sister Aman Comments are closed.
