Here's a simple way to make a skirt from a thrift store dress. I found 2 tank top dresses in a jersey knit material with a tiered bottom on it so I just cut off the top. One already had a soft elastic at the waist so that was pretty much done but the one in the picture above, I just use a big safety pin and pin it snug. A few seconds of cutting and I have 2 skirts for $6 total. I love tiered skirts because they are full coverage and offer a lot of leg room for a long stride and they are great for layering in the cooler weather, making for more warmth yet cooler in the summer because they are so flowy. You can also do that with other types of dresses for instance, I had a cape dress, which was unbiblical because they're tight at the waist, so I cut the top off and used the bottom part of the skirt. You don't have to have zippers and snaps etc, you can use pins to hold skirts on you know:-) There's usually always a way to make things work, just think outside the norm.
Maybe that will give some of you ideas to expand your wardrobe in a simple and inexpensive manner. Sister Aman |
