I'm in the stores a lot, witness walking and seeing what sales are going on and I constantly see people grab things off the shelf and toss them in their cart, seemingly not caring what the price is or if there's a better deal. In this post I want to show you the cost difference between name brand groceries and off brands and in my opinion, of many years of shopping, (currently in my 50's as of this post) the off brands are always as good as, or so close to as good as, the name brand that it's not worth paying the extra price. Some people are brainwashed by the culture to think that off brands are lesser quality but I got news for you, oftentimes the off brands are from the same company that sells the name brands, they just do a different label and cover their sales from lower end to higher end and people don't realize that. Brother Tupos can attest to this also because in his former job he was a packaging salesman and many of his clients were food companies, and they often packaged all the same products in different packaging to be sold by different companies at different pricing and marketing levels. (Same product, different package and price.) Don't be deceived, do your homework and be frugal and wise with the resources the Lord has given you. I'll be posting a LOT of pictures here of the name brand then the off brand so you can see the savings listed below the pics. (I didn't do freezer items as I didn't want to be opening and closing their doors, letting out all the cold air just for pictures.) All these pictures are from one store so if you lived in a town that had various grocery stores, you could sale shop to save even more but these are base prices (around America) to show you how easy you can save money by simply switching brands. For this post I only used food items for reference as non edible items can be different when it comes to quality between name brands and off brands. As we go through, you'll see that some savings don't seem like that much but they all add up to a lot, which we'll see at the end. $2.14 savings .79 cent savings $ 1.01 savings $1.60 savings .66 cent savings .86 cent savings $1.14 savings .30 cent savings .30 cent savings .42 cent savings .50 cent savings .42 savings .27 cent savings .48 cent savings $3.60 savings $1.56 savings .18 cent savings $1.14 savings .88 cent savings .90 cent savings .35 cent savings .88 cent savings (That's the normal price for the off brand, I don't know why they have 'rollback' on it.) .56 cent savings (That's the normal price, not sure why they have 'rollback' on it.) $1.02 savings $2.62 savings $6.03 savings $1.03 savings .90 cent savings $1.36 savings $1.94 savings $1.31 savings $2.71 savings (That's the normal price for the off brand, I don't know why they have 'rollback' on it.) $1.81 savings .74 cent savings .67 cent savings $2.90 savings $1.38 savings That's a $47.26 savings buying off brand products and at the end of the year (if you saved that each month) you would have an extra $558.32 in your bank account but it's safe to say that most people would save MUCH MORE than that each month. I'm not saying that buying some name brand products would be sinful, I just wanted to shed light on this to show you that small things add up and we want to be sure we are frugal and mindful of the resources the Lord has given us. Proverbs 19:14 House and riches are the inheritance of fathers: and a prudent wife is from the Lord. Let us be wise and prudent for the Lord in ALL things.
