I thought you might appreciate seeing how I hand sew patches while on the gospel road. Obviously with a sewing machine things would be stronger and neater but hand sewing seems to do just fine and I'm thankful because that's what my option is to do in this situation. Brother Tupos had a rip in the back of his shirt, which is getting old and thin, so I had to get a patch on it. I sorted through my fabric to find on that would work and it doesn't match the color but he doesn't care. I don't have an iron (otherwise I might try ironing patches and maybe will think about that in the future) so I have to deal with wrinkled fabric which can be really challenging while hand sewing but it's definitely possible. I sewed the edges of the fabric I was using for the patch and since I was going to be sewing the edges of it, I just did a big stitch all the way around it. You can see it's far from being perfect but he doesn't care (and neither do I on my clothes). A patch is a patch so remember that when you're doing something similar, perfection is not necessary, you just want to have wearable clothing. Who cares what anyone thinks?! After I sewed the patch, I flipped it over and sewed up the rip, stitching it to the patch fabric, hoping it would help keep it from getting worse. As you can see, the stitches are seen from the outside but we don't care, we're just thankful for clothing to wear. I hope that helps you overcome any hesitation on simply patching clothes to get along in this life. It's not a fashion show, it's to cover the body, amen? Test yourself to the biblical gospel HERE and make sure you're an obedient child of God.
