Water barrels/covers on the Homestead

On the off grid homestead, we do not have inside running water (we chose to not have it) so we use other means to get our daily water needs met. We do have a deep well that we pump water from with a generator weekly and it is put into water jugs for drinking or $15 food grade water barrels for other water uses. We have always had our barrels with a crude wood cover like this:

It was always falling off and just a hassle so I decide to make it better with hinges like this .....

It has turned out great and it is such a blessing on the homestead!
