God is the creator of the earth, people and all the animals, sea creatures, birds and whatever walks on the ground. Here are some videos for you to see some of what He created. Unto thee, O God, do we give thanks, unto thee do we give thanks: for that thy name is near thy wondrous works declare. (Psalm 75:1) In the video below you see some pelicans flying over the ocean waves that are crashing into the shore. In this next video you can see the pelicans up close. They fly up in the air and then down into the water to catch fish to eat. These are 'Brown Pelicans' and their wings open up to be 6-7 feet wide! Aren't they amazing?! This next video is of a manitee (and sometimes called a 'sea cow') that God made. They live in the ocean and eat watergrass, weeds and algae. They normally grow up to 10 feet long and weigh 1000 pounds (that's about how much a horse weighs) but they have been known to grow up to 13 feet and weigh 3,500 pounds (that's about how heavy a car is). Watch as it puts it's head out of the water and you can see it's face, isn't it cute? These next 3 videos are of a gopher tortoise that God made. A gopher tortoise is different than a turtle because it does not go into the water like turtles do and it digs long burrows under the ground about 12 inches deep and up around 40 feet long! They eat grass and all sorts of other plants. He wasn't afraid of us walking up to see him. The next video is of a squirrel burying an acorn. Did you enjoy seeing those videos? Let's give God thanks for creating so many different animals and allowing us to see them! Here are some scriptures from the bible that show how great God is.
For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by Him, and for Him: And He is before all things, and by Him all things consist. (Colossians 1:16-17) God created the plants and trees that grow food so we're going to share some pictures with you of a 'bible garden'. It's a garden that has trees that are mentioned in the bible and of course God made many, many more kinds, these are just a few. Gardens like this take a lot of space so you need a lot of land. What did God call the dry land? Earth! This is an olive tree above and you can see the olives growing below. Maybe you have eaten olives? As you grow and learn the bible, you will see that olives were very important food. Olives can be eaten and the oil from them is very healthy. Above are grape vines and below, if you look closely, you can see the grapes growing. You can eat grapes once they are ready to be picked. There are several different kinds and colors of grapes, here are some: Almonds are growing in the two pictures below. Maybe you have eaten almonds? They look like this when they are ready to eat. Below is a mulberry tree. They grow a berry that looks like this. Below is a pomegranate tree. You can see the fruit growing below. When it's ready to eat it looks like this: Below is a fig tree. You can see the figs growing. When they are ripe they look like this. Or this. Here's another example of nuts, called pistachio. They look like this when they are ready to be eaten. Maybe you have had them? As we said before, God created many more kinds of trees and plants, these are just a few. These pictures were sent to us from a woman in Australia who loves God. She gets to help take care of these trees and eat of the food they produce.
What other trees can you think of? The bible says that we are to give God thanks in everything. 1 Thessalonians 5:18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. What things can you think of to be thankful for? Let's read from God's Word, the bible, and see what else He created. To help you understand, we can read some verses and then explain what it means. Genesis 1:24-31 And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so. And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that it was good. (That means that God created all the animals you see that walk or creep along the ground. We will post some pictures when we're all done for you to see some examples and maybe you will think of more.) And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. (God's Word teaches us that God then created man and woman. He created them to be in charge of all the animals on the earth, in the sea and in the air.) And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. (God told them to multiply, that means to have babies.) And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat. (God then tells man and woman that He gave them food through all the plants that He made.) And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so. (God also says that the plants were food for the animals also.) And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day. Let's look at some pictures of animals and creatures that creep along the ground. Do you know the names of these animals? Maybe you can think of many more.
In this lesson we are going to learn more about what God created, in the beginning. Let's read from the bible (remember, that's the Word of God) and see what it says. Genesis 1:20-23 And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven. And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good. And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth. And the evening and the morning were the fifth day. God created all the birds (the word 'fowl' means birds) and all the creatures that live in the waters. God blessed the creatures in the waters and the fowl of the air and told them to multiply and fill the water and air. That means the males and females come together and have babies and then over time there will be so many to fill the water and the air. Look around you and see all the birds. Look in the waters and see all the fish and creatures there. There are many different kinds of birds, let's look at some. There are so many more birds that God created, these are just a few. Maybe you recognize some of them? Now lets look at some sea creatures. Let's give thanks to God who created all things! Today we will learn what God created on days 3 and 4.
Let's read from God's Word, the bible, and see what He says. We will read Genesis 1:9-19 9 And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so. 10 And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that it was good. 11 And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so. 12 And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good. 13 And the evening and the morning were the third day. 14 And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years: 15 And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so. 16 And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also. 17 And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth, 18 And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good. 19 And the evening and the morning were the fourth day. What we learn from this is that God gathered the waters together so that the dry land would appear and He called it Earth and he called the waters, seas. God also created all the plants and fruit trees to grow on the earth. He created the sun to light up the day, the moon and stars to light up the night. God saw that all He created was good. ****************************************************** Let's answer some questions. 1. What did God do to make the dry land appear? 2. What did God call the dry land? 3. What did God call the waters? 4. Who created all the plants and fruit trees? 5. Who made the sun and moon? 6. What did God call it all? Today we will read about how God created the heaven and the earth. Let's read from the bible. Remember we learned from the last teaching called Who Is God, that the bible is a book from God to us and it tells us about God and how we can live for Him. We will start in Genesis, which is the beginning of the bible. 1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. 2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. 3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. 4 And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness. 5 And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day. 6 And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters. 7 And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so. 8 And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day. What we learned is that God made the world by speaking, that means talking. He didn't create it with hands like we would have to do, but with His words. You and I can't do that can we? We also learned that God called the light Day and the darkness Night. You can see the day and night can't you? He called the firmament Heaven. He did all that in two days. Think about how big the earth and sky are and that God made them just by speaking the words, in two days! **************************************** Let's answer some questions. 1. Who created the heaven and earth? 2. How did God create the heaven and earth? 3. What did God call the light? 4. What did God call the darkness? 5. What did God call the firmament? 6. How many days did it take God to create the heaven and earth? 7. Did God say the light was good or bad? 8. When did God create the heaven and earth? Next time we will learn what else God created. ![]() Do you know who God is? We can learn about God from the Bible which is a book of God's words to us. Isn't that amazing? God gave us a book that helps us know about Him and how we can live for Him. We will share His words in our teachings so you can learn for yourself. God has many names as you will see throughout the lessons. Some of those names are: * Lord * I Am * Jehovah * Father * Creator * Almighty (There are many more names but there is only ONE GOD.) God is the creator of all things, which means He made the earth, stars, trees, birds, animals, air, water and every living thing. That means God created you too :-) God is the Alpha and the Omega which means the first and the last the beginning and the end. Nobody created God. He always was and always will be. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty. Revelation 1:8 (Remember God is also called Lord and Almighty.) God is a Spirit which you can't see, not physical like you or your family, or us. Can any hide himself in secret places that I shall not see him? saith the Lord. Do not I fill heaven and earth? saith the Lord. Jeremiah 23:24 God is everywhere and can see all things, even if they are hidden because He is everywhere. The eyes of the Lord are in every place, beholding the evil and the good. Proverbs 15:3 No matter what you try to hide from God, He will see it. Remember that. God shows Himself to us in three ways. * The Father * The Son (Jesus) * The Holy Spirit We will teach you more about these as we go along in the lessons. Let us give thanks to God who made us and allows us to know who He is. We love you all:-) **************************************** Questions: 1. What are some other names for God? 2. What sort of things did God create? 3. What do you call the book of God's Word's to us? 4. Can you hide anything from God? 5. How many God's are there? 6. Who created God? 7. Who created you? Next time we will learn about the heaven and the earth and how they were created. |
