Here's a simple post about how I use soap nuts to wash my clothes in van life. I'll let you go look them up on the internet and see what they are and how you can use them (yes they can be used in washing machines). They need warm water to soften and be activated. You can see the suds.... I put a couple in that bag (that came with them), soak them in warm water and then add my clothes and wash. Sometimes I let them soak in with the clothes if it's a bigger batch. The awesome thing is that it rinses out quickly with much less water than when using commercial soap. They can be used over and over many times before they wear out and you have to start over with new ones.
Soap nuts are an awesome addition to van life and maybe it'll be a help to some of you:-) Sister Aman I thought I'd share a little bit about apple cider vinegar, how we use it and then you can do more research and see many other uses for it. I found the two small bottles for $1.25 so for $2.50 I filled my glass bottle (that I'd originally found discounted) that normally runs an ave of $5 or more.
Brother Tupos and I make a daily vinegar drink with vitamin c and magnesium, which is the main reason I buy it and the other reason would be that I use it as a conditioner for my hair. It's super simple to do! After you wash your hair and rinse it, you just put a couple tablespoons of vinegar in a cup and fill it with water and pour it over your head. I wait about one minute then rinse it out. It doesn't smell like vinegar and your hair has a light softness to it. Nope it's not like the fancy store bought conditioners but what do we need that for as our hair is covered all day. It's super frugal (pennies per rinse) and it's great for van life because it rinses out with minimal water, contrary to regular conditioner which uses a lot of water and is not good for van life. I'm thankful for such simple things that the Lord provides. Sister Aman |
