Hello Sisters!
I hope your day is joyous and you are standing strong in the Word of our Lord as He is our strength! I had a communication with a sister a while ago and she mentioned how she had fallen back into using makeup but then (praise God) she repented! I thought I'd do a quick article to encourage you sisters to avoid such sinful traps. We have articles for women on our teaching blog so I won't go into all the details here but will simply list the sins that are associated with wearing makeup. One test we use is Philippians 4:8... Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. First of all makeup is a lie and lies are not honest. There are the first 2 sins. Since makeup is a lie then it's not just, nor pure, nor lovely as only harlots wore makeup. We are up to #5. Makeup is not of good report and there is no virtue in it and should not be any praise. Now we are up to sin #8 Let's add on pride and vanity. There we are at sin #10. Women wear makeup to be more attractive but God's Word tells a woman to be shamefaced. (1 Timothy 2) And it's worn to be competetive with other women when we are to prefer our brethren over ourselves (Romans 12:10). Now we are at #12 Need we go on any longer? Sisters, if you are clinging to even the smallest amount of makeup or anything that makes you 'pretty, attractive, better looking etc' ...you need to repent and seek your heart because there is wickedness in there that must be dealt with. Psalm 139:23 Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: I know all about the sinful flesh of a woman that needs to be addressed so I encourage you all to seek deeply and eliminate what is not good and pure in your heart and then it will show on the outside. Think about this sisters, you may either lead another sister astray into sin by following you if you continue to do such things, or you may miss out on closer fellowship with a more godly woman who sees this issue in you and if you're not willing to let it go, she will not be close to you. Sin affects everyone around us so we have to be diligent to hunt it down and kill it all. I hope this helps you and let us all strive to honor and glorify God! Amen! Love in Christ, Sister Deb |
