Greetings sister saints! Praise God for His mercy and grace, let us live our lives in honor and glory to Him! Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. Ephesians 4:29 Romans 12:1-2 teach us that killing our flesh is our reasonable service to the Lord and in 2 Corinthians 13:5 we should be examining all areas of our life. It's easy to do that when things go good but what about when things go wrong and our flesh or someone close to us is, overcome with anger? Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: There can be a righteous anger that is not sinful but often, anger is of the flesh and becomes sinful because words are said that shouldn't be, wicked thoughts come to mind, physical actions take place like throwing or damaging things and it gives place to the devil to destroy both the angry person and those around them. Neither give place to the devil. Instead of wasting time on being angry, a saint should be spending that time to remedy the situation which they are dealing with or move on from it to focus on the Lord and the good works set before them. Ephesians 4:26-27 Galations 5 show that the fruits of the spirit are and should be retained in such situations... love joy peace longsuffering gentleness goodness faith meekness temperance Those character traits can be seen in righteous anger but I've never seen them shown in unrighteous fleshly anger This is how we deal with such fleshly issues: And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Galatians 5:24-25 Now on the flip side, if you're not the type to get angry but someone in your life is, you still have to be on guard not to be provoked by theirs as it overflows onto you. Those fruits of the spirit must be within you also, in dealing with such situations, lest one provoke the other and it ends up spiraling out of control into a greater mess, causing deeper damage. Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men. Don't allow your flesh to be drug into anger, and if you say anything, it should be biblical. In Isaiah 53, Jesus opened not His mouth against being falsely accused, let that be a good example to follow in such situations. If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men. Remember 'blessed are the peacemakers'. Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. Don't allow ourselves to get angry and retaliate back with wicked words etc. Also don't allow the actions or words to hurt you and cause bitterness toward that person. Forgive them and pray for that person and remember that God is watching that person and vengeance is His, not ours. Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head. Just as Jesus was our perfect example of this, we should do likewise. Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good. Pray for those who are in such situations as we are no greater than them as we all have flesh to battle. Romans 12:17-21 And remember that we are commanded to be of good cheer because of what Christ has done. These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. John 16:33 Not sure how being of good cheer can happen in the midst of fleshly anger and that cheer should be held onto even if an angry person is trying to take it away by their actions. Is there anything in this life worth our time more than being thankful for the sacrifice Christ paid for us to be saved from our sins and the hope of eternal life with Him if we endure? Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfil all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with power: 2 Thessalonians 1:11 Praise God for His precious word to guide us in His ways.
