Funerals are Unbiblical and a Sisters Stand

Good evening sister saints!
I want to share something with you that will encourage you and make you rejoice.  We know a godly sister who has been striving in the faith for years, who just lost her husband, who was an unbeliever.  She had to do a lot of the care giving for him in the last year and in her steadfast obedience to the Lord, her light shined brightly and many people saw her stand on God's Word.  She didn't participate in all the pagan worldly events even though it brought mental and verbal persecution to her...she just kept steadfastly following after our Savior who is worthy.  When her husband died, she had questions on how to tell her grown children she was not going to attend the wake or funeral (which are pagan, see an article on that HERE).  We gave her some ideas on writing a letter and thoughts of what she could put into it.  I asked her if i could share that and her message about how it went.  Her response was this...

"And yes sister Deb you can use my message and letter to encourage other sisters. It all belongs to the Lord anyway but thank you for asking. "

Here's the letter she wrote...

And her message to us sisters about how it went after giving it to them...

We are rejoicing as she is having opportunities to share the truth (as she did with her sister at that time also.) Who knows who else she will be able to talk to through all this, without being part of it. We don't know who is watching from afar, how we saints deal with such things, and what a light we might be to them.  

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
Romans 8:28 

God can use all situations for His glory if we are willing vessels to be used.  Going back to our sister, her life as a wife is now done and God will have other works for her.  I'll be looking to her to share edification for you sisters who are married to unbelievers or have lost husbands and are now fully serving the Lord on your own.  One day at a time sisters, we do what the Lord has before us and if we don't grow weary, there's a great reward waiting in the end.

And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.

Hold fast sister saints, endure hardess like a good soldier and hold fast the precious word and truth you have been given.  I'm here to encourage you along.
