Greetings to my sister saints who love the Lord! I received that scripture picture from one of my sisters who knows about all the travel we had to do in a short period of time, some major projects, dr appt, sickness and then an awesome long day on the streets and then a chaotic night; so the encouragement about being content was perfect timing and I'll share a story with you about it all....it might make you smile and laugh. You can hear the audio first...
So the full story goes.... We had just had a 2 week marathon of MANY things going on and praise God, we ended up being in the right place at the right time to street preach at a festival that we knew about but didn't know if we would make it. Glory to God, all the circumstances in the chaotic two week period turned out to be perfect timing! You can see the videos of that preach HERE. In the meantime, our van was parking in a lot by the fair grounds (where we were instructed to park because the city park was being used by a car show which we later witnessed at) and we were told there would be a demo derby that evening but didn't know any of the details. After a long day of preaching and witnessing, we thankfully went back to our van, which had some cars parked around it but not too many. As we were sitting out in the shade of our van, we had something to eat and I began working on uploading the videos of the day, we noticed a lot of demo cars coming in right by us. It wasn't long and we were surrounded by cars, trucks and demo cars getting ready for their derby.....right in front of our van, on the other side of the the gravel road. We talked about it and figured that maybe it wouldn't go on too long because it's a small town but we were wrong. It was still going on past midnight but guess what? Even though we were worn out from all that had been going on....we were content and thankful. Thankful for what He did! For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps: Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth: Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously: Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed. For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls. (1 Peter 2:21-25) How can we not be a thankful and content servant to the one who was a servant to us? But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Ye know that the princes of the Gentiles exercise dominion over them, and they that are great exercise authority upon them. But it shall not be so among you: but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister; And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant: Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many. (Matthew 20:25-28) We are also content in the life and works He has for us. He could have destroyed us at our first sin, but who, in His grace and mercy, offered Himself in order to show us the way to Him in eternity. We saints (all around the world) are just doing our reasonable service for Him, nothing more, nothing earth shattering, nothing of great report over and above what He has already done as we could never attain such greatness as He. What a glorious Savior to serve! I also want to share this, part of a message conversation... Amen sister(s)! Let us strive to bring honor and glory to our Savior for what He has done, pressing on and through, provoking one another unto good works, not growing weary and knowing that our works are not in vain! I hope your day goes well and that you are cheerful in Him. These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. (John 16:33) Before I go I want to share one more thing... When we woke up the next morning, I told brother James that my mouth literally tasted like dirt. Well, when we went outside we saw the van totally covered in dirt which must have been coming right in our windows! Lol, the stories we could tell on the road...but more important is overcoming such trivial things to go do what is most important such as serving the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, preaching the gospel, making disciples, encouraging the brethren and being thankful and content in all things! Love, grace, mercy and peace to you! Sister Deb with brother James Comments are closed.
